How this online tarot reading works

  1. Think of your question

Type a question if you like, or just hold it in mind. Open questions work best, like “What should I notice about this move?” The field is optional, and the draw works the same either way.

  2. Pick three cards

Press the button and choose three cards from the fanned deck. The first lands in the Past position, the second in Present, the third in Future. Each card can come up upright or reversed.

  3. Read the meanings

Every card opens with a short meaning and three keywords, right away and free. If you want more, you can order an optional, paid personal reading that ties all three cards to your question.

What the three positions mean

A past, present and future spread is the classic three-card layout. It reads like a short story: where you came from, where you stand, and where things lean if nothing changes. Read the cards one at a time first, then look at them together. Notice repeated suits, a jump from calm to conflict, or one card that seems to answer another.

The Past card

This card points to what shaped the situation: an old choice, a habit, a lesson, or a feeling you are still carrying. It is not always the distant past. Often it is the last few months. Ask yourself what part of that story is finished and what part still affects how you act today.

The Present card

This is the center of the spread. It describes what is going on now, including things you may be avoiding or underrating. Read it as a mirror rather than a verdict. If the card feels uncomfortable, that is often the most useful part: it shows where your attention is needed this week, not someday.

The Future card: a direction, not a fixed fate

The third card shows where things tend to go if you keep on the current path. It is a tendency, not a promise or a sentence. A hard card here is a prompt to adjust something now. A bright card is encouragement, but it still depends on what you actually do next.

Reversed cards

About three in ten cards come up upside down. A reversal usually softens, delays or turns the meaning inward. A difficult card reversed can mean the worst is easing; a gentle card reversed can mean something is blocked or unfinished. Read the upright meaning first, then ask what would make it stuck or partial in your case.

Why read here

Free and unlimited

The three-card draw and every card meaning cost nothing. Draw as often as you like. There is nothing to sign up for, and we never ask for your email to see results.

Personal reading if you want it

When short meanings aren’t enough, order a written interpretation of exactly these three cards and your question. It is a one-time payment with no subscription, and it is completely optional.

Your question stays private

The free tool doesn’t store your question. It stays in your browser while you read. There is no sign-up and no profile, so nothing ties a reading back to you.

Questions people ask

You type an optional question, press one button and pick three cards from a fanned deck. The cards fill the Past, Present and Future positions, each upright or reversed, and you see a short meaning and keywords for every card at once. It is free, needs no sign-up, and you can draw again whenever you like.

No reading, online or in person, can tell you what will happen. Tarot works best as a way to think about a situation from a new angle. The cards are drawn at random, and the meanings come from long-standing traditional sources. Their value is in the questions they raise for you, not in predicting events.

Pick by the kind of question. For a quick decision, use yes or no tarot. For a short daily prompt, try a one card reading. For a broader view of a situation, the three-card past, present and future spread on this page works well. For relationships, use the love spread, and for work questions, the career spread. All of them are free.

Today’s card is on our Card of the Day page. It shows the same card to everyone and changes at midnight, so you can check it once and come back tomorrow for a new one. If you would rather draw your own card for a specific question, the readings on this site let you do that for free.

Yes. Redraws are unlimited and free. That said, drawing over and over for the same question tends to blur the picture. Many people read their first draw carefully, sleep on it, and only draw again when the question or the situation has changed. If you want to see a fresh angle, try rewording the question first.

The free meanings describe each card on its own in a few lines. The personal reading is a 600- to 900-word text written for your three cards, their positions and your question, showing how the cards connect. It is AI-assisted, built on traditional card meanings, ready in one to two minutes, and paid once with no subscription.

How this page was made

The card meanings here are condensed from our own articles on all 78 cards. Those articles draw on A. E. Waite’s The Pictorial Key to the Tarot (1911), the imagery of the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, and the Golden Dawn correspondences. Cards are drawn with a secure random generator, and each one has a 30% chance of coming up reversed. The free meanings are a tool for reflection, not a forecast. This is an entertainment service for adults 18+.
