Tarot is a deck of 78 cards that is split into two groups. The first group has 22 cards and is called the Major Arcana, meaning major “secrets” or “mysteries”. The Major Arcana is numbered one through twenty-one, with zero being the Fool card. The next group is The Minor Arcana consists of the remaining 56 cards; The Minor Arcana are divided into suits, commonly Pentacles, Swords, Wands, and Cups with 4 courts in each suit, The Page, Knight, Queen and King. The word Tarot can be traced to the following.
Torah (Hebrew), "The Law - Law Giver" Thoth Egyptian god Tarosh (Egyptian), "The royal way" Torah -Torus in Sacred Geometry Taurus Astrology Rota (Latin), "Wheel" - Wheel of karma - Wheels Within Wheels Taro River in Northern Italy Taru (Hindu), "Cards" Troa (Hebrew), "Gate" Tares, meaning the dot border on old cards Tarotee, meaning a pattern on the backs
I believe tarot is a great tool that lets us tap into the divine, the universe, spirit, your own higher self conscious or whatever you believe in. Tarot is used to tap into these sources and gain knowledge and insight in order to shed light onto issues that trouble us in our lives. People often wonder if they are on the right path, or if they are even on their path. Tarot helps reveal what is going on, where things went wrong and how to fix it. The Tarot is meant to help us heal and grow. However most people are stuck in the notion that a tarot reading is a thing where they will find out they will be meeting a talk dark and handsome person in the next month, most people are looking for the fortuneteller, someone to just tell them the future. Most people don’t want to be proactive in a reading. Tarot readings are more beneficial when you are proactive in them. Open communication is important to the reading process. As they say “It takes two to tango” I like to say “it takes two to tarot”.
How does tarot work? What powers it? Tarot is powered in my opinion by the universal powers all around us and by our inner self connecting to this universal source. The cards get mixed up while you shuffle, cut and placed in the spread set by the universe. It is very much an enigma to tarot readers that the cards fall they way they do in a reading. It still shocks me as well. Many people would ask “If we did the reading again we would get different cards and then a different future, so how is this right?” Well I have felt for a long time that the first reading is the right one and if you did it again it would have no impact because you were already told what was needed to be heard, but that’s only if the second reading does not add on another layer of meaning that does not conflict with the first reading. When the two conflict then stick with the first that was done. You would only want a second or re-reading is when the first reading does not make any sense to the client, this could happen and means that the reader could not gain a connection to the universe for whatever reasons or you are not meant to have the reading done at that time. People often ask me “What if the cards are wrong?” I say it’s never wrong. Either you do not except what is being said to you or don’t have any knowledge at the time to verify the info or the answer is not to be known at the time or I do not know how to Interpret it. Tarot readings will not guarantee you an answer however, something’s are meant to be unknown, and the tarot will be clear about that. If you cannot verify the info or don't understand it let the info sink in and think about it, especially if it’s personal about you. We are often defensive and don’t like to hear the truth or things that are from another perspective that you are use to.
“Is Tarot evil?” I get asked this by few; I always say no it is not, I think that everyone and everything is spiritually connected to God, the Divine or whatever you call it. There is a quote in the bible I like that supports my belief that visions, and psychic abilities are a good thing, “Saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams” - Acts 2:17 This quote means that god gave humankind the gift of prophecy, in forms of dreams and visions. Then why are religious people so against tarot, psychic and mediums? Well it’s rooted to the past. While the early Christian church was forming they were trying to separate themselves from the pagans, and we all know that pagans had oracles, the Greeks were the most notable. I feel that in those times the church was the center of the people’s lives, where their authority is not just in the church but it impacts and can control the government. They would not want some psychic or as they called them soothsayers coming around and helping people. That would take people away from asking the church for help and thus would threaten the churches power. The most compelling issue for people that do not believe in the tarot is because it has a negative connection in American culture from what I know. Most psychic frauds are done with tarot cards and tarot has to mystery about it that people are unsure about, remember people fear what they do not know.
Now a day’s people are rediscovering their spirituality and discovering what God means to them and moving away from a dogmatic way to view God. Tarot comes in play becomes for a personal use tarot can help guide you and help rediscover who you are and what you are capable of and shape your life to be a bit more better. I am here to help those who want to seek answers so that they can have a new perspective on their problems and their lives.
